Kent Muench has been returned by acclamation for his third term as Mayor of Martensville. He was declared elected at the nomination deadline October 8.
Meanwhile, there are ten candidates running for six seats on Martensville City Council. They include incumbents Debbie McGuire, Michael Cox, Darren MacDonald, Tyson Chillog and Jamie Martens, and first-time candidates Keith Murray, Matthew Stavenow, Adam Hartle, Travis Sorenson and Spencer Nikkel.
Muench said he’s “humbled and honoured” by the vote of confidence from the electorate in Martensville.
“I’m excited about the opporutnity to serve another four years as Mayor,” said Muench. “I’m looking forward to working with the new council. Martensville has sa bright future and I’m passionate about wanting to be part of that.”
WARMAN ELECTION
In Warman, long-time Deputy Mayor and City Councillor Gary Philipchuk is stepping into the Mayor’s Chair after being acclaimed to the position on October 8. Former Mayor Sheryl Spence chose not to seek re-election.
But while the Mayor’s chair is decided, there is a crowded race for Warman City Council seats. A total of 12 candidates, including three incumbents, are running for the six available positions. They include incumbents Kevin Tooley, Richard Beck and Trevor Peterson, as well as Ivan Gabrysh, Doug Ramage, Tracy Johnson, Glenn Gareau, Michel Malo, Tracy Buechler, Marshall Seed, Jarrett Toffan and Glenn Murray.
CORMAN PARK
In the RM of Corman Park, Judy Harwood is returning for her third term as Reeve after being declared elected by acclamation on October 8.
Harwood expressed her thanks to residents and ratepayers of Corman Parkk for their continued support and trust in her leadership as Reeve. during these challenging times.
“I look forward to the next four years as your Council and Administration work closely, with our neighbouring municipalities, towards regional growth through cooperation,” said Harwood. “Through wise decisions and investments Council will strive to keep taxes low while at the same time continuing to provide an amazing quality of life in Corman Park.”
Two RM of Corman Park councillors, Lyndon Hadiuk in Division 3 and Art Pruim in Division 5, were also returned for their second terms by acclamation.
However, there are elections slated for two Divisions in Corman Park. Long-time councillor John Germs is being challenged by Aaron Bradford in Division 1; while in Division 7, two new candidates, Darrell Reddekopp and Calvin Vaandrager, are looking to win the seat. Former Division 7 councillor Joanne Janzen chose not to seek re-election at the nomination deadline October 8.
