Terry Jenson accepts the Saskatchewan Party nomination for the new riding of Warman while son Asher, wife Angela Heidel, and daughter Kolbie share the stage at a meeting in Warman September 5

Terry Jenson will carry the colours for the Saskatchewan Party in the new constituency of Warman when the next provincial election is held in the fall of 2024.

Jenson, currently the MLA for the riding of Martensville-Warman, won a contested nomination for the new riding at a meeting in Warman on Tuesday, September 5.

The other candidate seeking the nomination for the riding was Shaun Cripps, a city councillor in Warman.

“I want to thank everyone who came out to support me tonight,” said Jenson. “I look forward to meeting and talking with folks across the new Warman constituency in the lead-up to the next election.”

First elected as an MLA for the Martensville-Warman constituency in the 2020 provincial election, Jenson currently serves as the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Immigration and Career Training and is a member of the Standing Committee on Human Services.

In his speech to the nominating meeting, Jenson said he is committed to representing his constituents and protecting the interests of Saskatchewan.

“I am in complete support of, and was pleased to vote for, the Saskatchewan First Act,” said Jenson, adding that climate change solutions are complex and cannot be effectively addressed through a carbon tax on everything from residential, commercial and agricultural heating and power to petroleum products.

“Inflation is out of control thanks to the carbon tax as it has made everything more expensive and puts a strain on families across our province,” he said.

He said over the last four years, he has “worn out shoes and worn out tires” meeting with constituents on their doorsteps.

“The more time I spend listening and understanding the views of residents, and taking that feedback to my colleagues in Sask party caucus in Regina, the more satisfied I am,” he said. “The feedback I’ve received from people in this riding is that we’re doing things right for our province and our communities.”

Jenson listed several projects that have come to fruition in the Martensville-Warman riding over the past three years, including: a regional ambulance service base in Martensville; $14 million in provincial funding for a new multi-purpose recreation centre in Martensville; six nurse practitioners, including three in Warman; and construction of an emergency vehicle turnaround lane on Highway 11 between Warman and Osler.

Jenson has owned the Clark’s Crossing Gazette, a community newspaper since it was established in 2008. He is also the past-president of the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association (SWNA) and is also a past-president of Ad Canada Media Inc.

In addition to his professional life, Terry was an active Kinsmen Club member, a retired Saskatchewan Hockey Association referee and worked as an auxiliary constable with the RCMP.

Jenson and his wife Angela live in Warman with their two children.

Hon. Gordon Wyant, the Minister of Advanced Education and Sask Party MLA for Saskatoon Northwest,  was the guest speaker at the nomination meeting.

The Saskatchewan Party has now nominated 20 candidates for the 2024 provincial election.
