On December 25, 2021, SLGA was subject to a cyber security incident which impacted its computer systems. Upon learning of the incident, SLGA quickly took steps to secure its systems and mitigate the impact to data.
As well, independent cyber security experts were retained to assist SLGA in dealing with the matter, in accordance with industry best practices.
Recovery from this incident is well underway. SLGA’s Distribution Centre has resumed full operations, including access to SLGA’s full catalogue of products. SLGA continues to work closely with retailers and liquor suppliers to ensure regular operations related to the inbound and outbound flow of products.
Work continues on bringing other systems online, including SLGA’s website.
Investigation into the cyber incident is ongoing.
Based on the results of the investigation to date, there is a risk that some personal information of employees may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party.
As a result of this finding, SLGA is issuing a notification to current and former SLGA employees to provide credit monitoring to these individuals.
Although there are currently no findings within the ongoing investigation to indicate this personal information has been used in any way, this action is being taken out of an abundance of caution.
Information about credit monitoring is being sent directly to employees by mail.
SLGA is not aware of any impact to client information and will continue to provide updates as appropriate.
SLGA is in regular contact with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner and continues to cooperate with law enforcement to resolve this matter.
