Warman Wildcats Mason Bueckert breaks in for close scoring chance against Tisdale goalie Cody Wilson

The Warman Wildcats U18AAA made the most of their return to the ice as they  defeated the Tisdale Trojans 14-3 in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA game played at the Legends Centre on Saturday, January 15.

The team last played a game on December 18. Their opportunity to face the best teams in the world at the prestigious Mac’s U18 Tournament in Calgary was lost when the tournament had to be cancelled  due to covid concerns. Games against Swift Current, Moose Jaw and Regina had been postponed due to covid protocols in the opening week  of the New Year.

As a result after almost a month of only being able to practice and lift weights, the squad was ready to compete in an actual hockey game.

All that pent up energy just exploded as they faced the Trojans.

They outshot the visitors 19-5 in the first period and enjoyed a 3-0 lead on goals by Rylan Pearce, Berg Weber, Rhett Dekowny.

Wildcats continued the relentless pressure and scored eight goals on 19 shots in the ond period. Jordan Normand and Mason Bueckert scored a pair each, while Rhett Dekowny, Jayden Jessiman, Rylan Silzer and Brock Evans contributed with singles.

Tisdale got on the scoreboard as Carter Ralston netted a powerplay marker mid-period and scored two more in the third.

A pair of Wildcats completed their hat tricks in the third period as Berg Weber scored a pair and Jordan Normand fired his third goal with little over a minute left.

The Wildcats are currently scheduled to host Prince Albert on Friday, January 21 and Yorkton on Saturday, January 22. With the current covid situation it is recommended to check updated information at  smaaahl.com prior to games.
