The Martensville A&W Valley Street Stock 100 attracts drivers from throughout the province and even Alberta, but it’s the local drives that love competing in the event as well.
Scott Kozak, who grew up in Martensville and now resides in Saskatoon, races in the Golf’s Car Wash Street Stock division at the Wyant Group Speedway, and the A&W Valley Street Stock 100 is a race he looks forward to each year.
Even though this is Kozak’s third year racing in the Street Stock class he has quite a bit of experience in the sport, as the 21-year-old raced in the mini-stock for four years.
This year, in the Martensville A&W Valley Street Stock 100 feature on September 11, he finished in seventh place.
His best finish of the race actually came in his first year, placing fourth. But no matter the results, he always has a good time in the 100 lap feature.
“It’s something different from running 30 laps in feature on a regular night to running 100 laps in a feature. It’s just that longevity of the race brings a different atmosphere to racing every single year,” he said.
Kozak said there is usually around 12 Street Stock cars that race at the Wyant Group Speedway on a regular night, so the 26 cars that came to race in the Valley Street Stock 100 is always a welcome sight for him to see.
“It’s great to see people throughout western Canada come and experience a track that we race on all the time and it gives us it a little bit different competition,” Kozak said.
Kozak also attended the annual “Driver’s Breakfast” at the Martensville A&W the morning prior to the race, and that is something he always enjoys going to.
“I love coming down and seeing every one come check out the cars. Everyone loves cars and it gives good exposure for all my sponsors as well,” he said.
The Martensville A&W Valley Street Stock 100 feature was the second last race for Kozak as he has one more race left in the season at Wyant Group Speedway to move up in the points standings.
