Tickets for the 2021 Martensville-Warman KidSport Playhouse raffle are selling fast, according to organizers.

“It’s very popular,” said Martensville KidSport Coordinator Angela Reddekopp. “So far we have sold approximately 2,400 tickets and raised about $8,000 for the Warman and Martensville KidSport charities.

“We are only a few weeks away from the draw date, and we expect to see demand for tickets increase as we get closer to the big day.”

The draw for the playhouse, currently on display at the Martensville A&W parking lot, is slated to take place September 18.

KidSport raffle ickets are $5 each or three for $10 and are available online at https://warman-kidsport.myshopify.com/collections/playhouse-tickets . They are also available at Martensville Co-op, Warman Co-op, Martensville Athletic Pavilion, Martensville A&W, and the Legends Centre in Warman.

KidSport provides money to low-income families to enable them to enroll their kids in organized sports. All funds raised locally go to help local families.

This is the fifth edition of the playhouse raffle, first initiated in 2016 by Martensville A&W owners Brian and Bernice Buffin. In the past, high school students in Martensville and Warman built  playhouses over the course of the academic year. The cost of materials, publicity and transportation was covered through corporate donations. The Martensville and District Lions Club has also been instrumental in boosting the profile of the raffle.

This version of the playhouse, made to resemble an old-west general store, was begun prior to the COVID-19 pandemic by Martensville High School students. It was completed earlier this year by Martensville carpenter Marty Goertzen, who donated his labour. Martensville realtor Richard Reimer paid the $5,000 tab for the building materials used in the project.
