Osler Mayor-elect Charlotte Goertzen

Charlotte Goertzen is the new Mayor of Osler.

Goertzen edged out incumbent Mayor Abe Quiring in a close election November 9, receiving 147 votes to Quiring’s 140.

While Goertzen is new to the Mayor’s chair, there will still be plenty of experience around the town council decision-making table. Four of the six  councillors elected by acclamation at the close of nominations in October served on council last term.

The Osler councillors include: incumbent Susan Braun, incumbent Adam Humenuik, incumbent Tammy McLean, incumbent Len Turcotte, Kelly Bueckert and Jerry Harms.

In a nail-biter election in Langham, Gary Epp defeated incumbent Mayor John Hildebrand by 18 votes. Epp received 259 ballots while Hildebrand received 241.

The race for the six available council seats in Langham was also close as nine candidates vied for the honour. Dylan Smart earned the most votes in the contest, with 388; followed by Peter Srok with 336, incumbent Dione Wall with 310, Carey Zacharias with 297, incumbent Carol Epp with 293 and incumbent Randall Kary with 267.

The other candidates in the race for Langham council included: Brandon Booth (244 votes), incumbent Brendan Proctor (227 votes) and incumbent Tammy Beriault (192 votes).

In a three-way Mayoral race in the Town of Asquith, incumbent Mayor Gail Erhart  was re-elected to the post. She received 82 votes, while challengers Dylan Claypool received 47 votes and Ted Goodnough polled 46 votes.

Langham Mayor-elect Gary Epp

There were ten candidates looking to fill six seats on Asquith Town Council. The winners in that election included: Jackie Stobbe (143 votes), Jodi Nehring (117 votes), Darcy Stack (103 votes), Wade Monks-Janzen (101 votes), Lauren Jones (92 votes), and Jeff Eide (88 votes). The other candidates were: Emily Buckles-Whittle (87 votes), Cecilia  Mrygold (76 votes), Harold Edwards (55 votes), and Sue Sawicki (49 votes).

In the other Mayoral race in the region, Chris Tyreman defeated Michelle Dubyk to become Radisson’s new Mayor. Tyreman received 102 votes to Dubyk’s 64 votes in the November 9 election.

A total of 12 candidates were in the race for six Radisson town council seats. The successful candidates included Pete Reddekopp (137 votes), Diane Rimmer (128 votes), Nathan Meaker (117 votes), Scott Currie (100 votes), Leona Bennett (98 votes),  and Robin Baker (87 votes). The other candidates were: Rhonda Mason (72 votes), Shawn Mitchler (67 votes), Marion Fehr-Stead (50 votes), Brent Habetler (25 votes), Maria Habetler (23 votes), and Daniel Raddatz (21 votes).

Jon Kroeker was acclaimed Mayor of Dalmeny at the close of nominations in October. There were seven candidates for six Dalmeny Town Council seats. The successful candidates include: Eric Desnoyers (183 votes), Anna-Marie Zoller (178 votes), Lacy Boisvert (162 votes), Greg Bueckert (154 votes), Matt Bradley (144 votes), and Edward Slack (138 votes). The other candidate was Jon Redekop (122 votes).

Dennis Helmuth was re-elected by acclamation as Mayor of Rosthern. The six candidates elected to Rosthern Town Council November 9 include: Colin Aebig (181 votes), James Crouch (175 votes), Emily Hand (174 votes), Kevin Graham (159 votes), Neal Isfeld (153 votes), and Blaine Krentz (145 votes). The other candidate, Dom Corbett, withdrew from the race too late to have his name removed from the ballot. Corbett received 88 votes.

Cary Brunett was elected Mayor of Delisle by acclamation in October. There were seven candidates vying for six town council seats in Delisle. The successful candidates were: Deb Winder (137 votes), Shelley Worth (135 votes), Ryan King (132 votes), Darcy Peakman (128 votes), Lee Cisecki (109 votes), and Jason Alkestrup (97 votes). The other candidate, Billie Parker, received 77 votes.

Incumbent Hague Mayor Patricia Wagner was re-elected by acclamation in October.  There were seven candidates for six Hague Town Council seats. The winners of the electoral race were: Brent Peacock (109 votes), Darryl Fehr (102 votes), Dane Friesen (101 votes), Terry Knippel (97 votes), Anthony Dueck (84 votes), and Alice Funk (82 votes). The other candidate was Curtis Unruh (77 votes).

Chris Becker was acclaimed as Hepburn Mayor in October. There were seven candidates in the race for four council seats. The successful candidates were: Andrew Berg (145 votes), Neal Mihalicz (128 votes), Diedra Prosofsky (117 votes), and Erica Baerwald (113 votes). The other candidates were: Bent Block (86 votes), Jesse Neary (46 votes), and Kaelan Wall (40 votes).

Ryan White was acclaimed as Mayor of Aberdeen, while seven candidates were in the running for six Aberdeen Town Council seats. The successful candidates included: incumbent Brian Vandenberg (107 votes), Denise Kominetsky (100 votes), incumbent Ben Levesque (92 votes), incumbent Jaquie Griffiths (87 votes), Lori Sopotyk (79 votes), and incumbent Floyd Wudrick (75 votes). The other candidate was incumbent Tracey Grand’maison (61 votes).

Kirk Walters was acclaimed  as Mayor of the Village of Laird. There were three candidates vying for two village council seats. Bonita Brucks (81 votes) and Wendy Besser (61 votes) were the successful candidates. Sandra Thompson received 44 votes in the election.

The Village of Clavet will be holding a byelection for Mayor after Christmas. No candidates stepped forward to run for the position even after two calls for nomination were published.

However, there was an election for four Clavet Village Council seats. The successful candidates were Spencer Hoehn (61 votes), Christine Plemel-Busby (53 votes), Tari-Lynne Beamish (52 votes), and Jennifer Samoleski (39 votes). The other candidate was Tallasse Crosby (32 votes).

Jamie Brandrick was re-elected by acclamation as Mayor of Borden. There were six candidates for four council seats. The election winners were: Kandice Walker (96 votes), Peter Thiessen (91 votes), Tom Redhead (60 votes), and Beverly Hrynuik (59 votes). The other candidates were Cody Bradshaw (51 votes) and Martin Beal (34 votes).

Robin Odnokon was re-elected as Mayor of Vanscoy.

Four incumbent village councillors were also returned to office by acclamation: Brent Lensen, Denise Robert, Nadine Seguin, Nelson Chovin.

John Bollinger was re-elected by acclamation as Mayor of Waldheim.

Six town councillors elected by acclamation: Ashten Hiebert, Trevor Hiebert, Sheldon Hildebrand, Gary Schultz, Chris Enns, and Nick Sochaski.

Donna Piche was re-elected by acclamation as Mayor of Duck Lake.

Four councillors were also returned by acclamation: Christopher Gamble, Blake Cameron, Lauriel Magnusson, and Denis Lavoie.
