The Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways is advising motorists an estimated $7.1 million project will begin Wednesday, April 1 to rehabilitate an eastbound Highway 7 bridge over rail lines about three kilometres west of Saskatoon.
To accommodate work on the eastbound bridge built in 1962, all traffic will be diverted to the westbound bridge built in 1994 over the rail lines. Traffic will operate in both directions of travel on the westbound bridge. Overall traffic width will be reduced to 4.3 metres.
The work needs to be done as the 1960s eastbound bridge is nearing the end of its service life.
Drivers should expect delays, obey all signage, be alert and slow down.
The project is expected to be completed by late fall.
The railway line is operated by Canadian National.
The Ministry of Highways appreciates the patience and understanding of all motorists during any road work as the province continues improving Saskatchewan’s transportation system.
Motorists are reminded to slow down when approaching the area and watch for work zones – the Ministry of Highways wants everyone to get home safely.
