Langham Fire Department (LFD) and Dalmeny Fire Rescue (DFR) members were dispatched to a house fire on a rural property near Langham on the night of Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29. According to the LFD facebook post, once firefighters arrived on scene, the owner of the property informed members that smoke was coming from a back room. Flames were seen in one room and firefighters entered the building to perform fire suppression and conduct a search. The fire was knocked down, and a puppy was found in the room. Firefighters did their best to resusitate the animal, but unfortunately they were not successful.and it did not survive. The LFD post noted that its members did an excellent job, and the incident showed the importance of the fire department’s recent training on self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and search methods. The incident also showed the importance of mutual aid agreements between rural fire departments. (Langham Fire Department facebook photo)
