
It will be a busy July for tackle football in Saskatchewan, with Football Canada awarding Regina the 2024 U16 Western Challenge Cup and 2024 Football Canada Cup events starting July 1 and ending July 13.
The Under 16 (U16) Western Challenge will feature teams from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia competing to be the best in the west. Defending three-time champions Team Saskatchewan will host the event at Leibel Field from July 1st to 6, 2024.
The Football Canada Cup (FCC) will also be held in Regina from July 5 to 13, 2024. This event brings together eight Under 18 (U18) teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Québec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia to compete for the title of National Champions. Four-time champions Team Saskatchewan will be looking to continue their reign.
U16 play will begin on Wednesday, July 3 at 4:00 pm (local time) with a matchup between British Columbia (ranked 2nd) and Alberta (ranked 3rd). Back-to-back-to-back champions Team Saskatchewan (1), who won the title in 2019, 2022, and 2023, will start their quest for a four-peat at 7:00 pm against Manitoba (4). Based on the results of the first round of games, the schedule for game day two, on Saturday, July 6, will feature the bronze medal game at 11:00 am and the championship game at 2:00 pm.
Saskatchewan will then host its second back-to-back event with the 2024 edition of the Football Canada Cup (FCC) also being held in Regina from July 5 to 13. Games will be played on Sunday, July 7, Wednesday, July 10, and Saturday, July 13.
U18 play will begin on Sunday, July 7 at 10:00 am (local time) with a matchup between Ontario (ranked 4th) and Nova Scotia (ranked 5th). At 1:00 pm, Alberta (3) will face New Brunswick (6). The 4:00 pm match will feature the 2023 Co-Champions Quebec (2) against British Columbia (7). In the finale, back-to-back-to-back-to-back champions Team Saskatchewan (1), who won the title in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023, will start their quest for a five-peat at 7:00 pm against Manitoba (8).
