Fire departments in the area are strongly advising residents to be aware of the dangers of thin ice on storm water reservoir ponds, sloughs and rivers. In a social media post November 6, Warman Fire Chief Russ Austin said parents should talk to their children about avoiding these shorelines for the next several weeks. “The ice is thin and above-zero temperatures make it worse. Make it a priority at the supper table. It could prevent a tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, families and first responders from this tragic incident that occurred in Humboldt.” On Saturday, November 3, a young girl and two adult men drowned after falling through thin ice on Humboldt Lake.
