Corman Park Police Service hosted its first, hopefully annual, golf tournament on May 23 at Greenbryre Golf & CC. Forty eight participants from numerous law enforcement agencies and other businesses in the Saskatoon area enjoyed a round of golf and fellowship in support of the CPPS. All proceeds will be turned over to the South Corman Park school to assist with funding their outdoor recreation and education classes. Well done everyone!!!!
Incidents of note
On May 4 at 5:42 p.m., CPPS received a call from a female, concerned that her husband was in medical distress on Clarence Avenue. She stated that he is a diabetic, has not been answering her calls, and has been in the same location for an extended period of time. CPPS attended to the location and located a vehicle in the ditch. The driver was speaking with a passing-by motorist, and appeared to be in a state of diabetic shock. CPPS assisted the driver in taking two glucose tablets. EMS arrived on scene, and checked him over. They determined his blood sugar was okay, and released him to his wife, who drove the vehicle home.

The driver, an adult male, displayed signs of impairment by alcohol, subsequently failed a roadside screening device test. The driver was transported to the RCMP detachment where he provided two samples of 130 & 140 mgs%. RCMP authorized CPPS to use a tire deflation device. CPPS used a spike belt at the intersection of Highway 16, and Highway 11, which was successful. The vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of Preston and Circle drive, where the driver was arrested for flight from police and impaired driving offences.
On May 19, around 9:40 p.m., a white GMC van approached a CPPS check stop westbound on Valley Road and Highway 60. The driver stated that he was on his way home from the bar after having two drinks. He was read the Approved Screening Device Demand, provided a sufficient sample of breath, the result of which was a FAIL. He was arrested, transported to Martensville RCMP detachment to be placed in front of a breath technician. The accused provided two samples of breath that had a result of 150 mg% twice. He was charged for impaired operation and exceeding 80 mg%, released on an Appearance Notice for court in June.
