Three people were arrested following an inter-agency evade police incident.
On February 21, 2023 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked and occupied in the 1000 block of Idylwyld Drive North in Saskatoon.
Upon seeing police, the vehicle began to pull away and be driven evasively through traffic. It was soon confirmed to be stolen and a traffic stop was attempted; the vehicle refused to stop for police and accelerated away at a high rate of speed. Officers on the ground immediately disengaged from the evade police incident while those in the air continued to track the suspect vehicle’s movements.
As the suspect vehicle exited the city to the north, members of the Air Support Unit coordinated with the Saskatchewan RCMP for interception; tire deflation devices were deployed on Highway 12 near the Petrofka Bridge and the suspect vehicle was successfully immobilized.
As a result, members of the SPS and RCMP effected the arrests of two women and a man; 19, 27, and 39, respectively. The Saskatoon trio are collectively facing charges relating to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle being pursued by police, obstructing a police officer, possession of stolen property in excess of $5,000, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
