The Warman RCMP would like to remind the public about Snowmobile Safety.
It is important to know your abilities and ride within your limits, this will allow you to always be in control of your snowmobile.
Ensure that you check the weather conditions, and ride in groups, and let people know where you are going. Wear the proper protective gear including a helmet, gloves, eye protection and dress for the weather conditions. When operating a snowmobile on public land such as ditches, Crown Land and groomed snowmobile trails, the snowmobile must be registered and you must hold a valid drivers licence.
There are two exceptions to this rule:
1. If you are at least 16 years of age and have completed the snowmobile safety course, you may operate a snowmobile on public land such as ditches, crown land, and groomed snowmobile trails.
2. If you are between the ages of 12 and 16 , you may operate a snowmobile on public land such as ditches, crown land, and groomed snowmobile trails. If you have the snowmobile safety course and are supervised by another person who holds a valid drivers licence.
Ride sober. Don’t drink or consume drugs before or while snowmobiling.
Stay safe and enjoy winter.
