With eight games remaining in the Prairie Junior Hockey League( PJHL) schedule, the Delisle Chiefs are looking to build momentum as they battle for playoff positions.
The Chiefs got a good start the past week with a dominant 8-0 home win over the Prince Albert Titans on Wednesday, January 26.
Delisle goalie Noah Martens made 43 saves for the shutout.
Kylen Taphorn, Luke Dyer, Tyson Tuck, Morgan Glowa, Karson Huber, Cole Youngman and Nic Prediger with a pair scored for the Chiefs.
Delisle followed that with a dramatic 4-3 overtime road win against the Saskatoon Wesleys on Friday, January 28.
Shane Collins, Caley Lehouillier and Kyle Heinz gave the Chiefs a 3-0 lead.
Levi Wiesner got the Wesleys on the board in the midddle of the second period. Trey Reider made it a one goal game with a powerplay marker for the Wesleys with two minutes left in the frame.
Wiesner’s second goal of the game tied things up with just 30 seconds left in regulation. That sent the game into overtime..
Delisle’s Chad Westman netted the game winner with 20 seconds remaining in extra time..
Delisle goalie Tyler Peterson played a big role in the win, making 41 saves as theh Chiefs were outshot 44-21 in regulation.
Aided by a powerplay opportunity, the Chiefs dominated the overtime, keeping the Wesleys bottled up in their end, and outshooting them 5-0.
On Saturday, January 29 Delisle hosted the Saskatoon Royals.
Ronan Rheame scored for the Royals in the first period. The Chiefs’ Jackson Helperl tied it in the second. Danon Vanderlinde netted the game winner in the middle of the third period. Despite the loss, Tyler Peterson had another strong game with 40 saves to keep the game close.
Delisle currently sits in fourth place of the Bob Dybvig Division of the PJHL, with 16 wins, 12 losses and 4 overtime losses for 36 points.
The Royals are two points behind Delisle with 15 wins, 14 losses and 4 overtime losses for 34 points.
The Wesleys sit in third place with 20 wins, 10 losses and 3 overtime losses for 43 points.
Wednesday,February 2 ,Delisle is scheduled to play the Saskatoon Wesleys and on Saturday, February 5 the Saskatoon Royals. Both games are at the Rod Hamm Arena in Saskatoon.
