The Oustanding New Journeypersons awards is one of several categories of awards announced by the SATCC November 5 as part of the 21st annual Apprenticeship Awards.
Apprentices, new journeypersons, employers, instructors and other apprenticeship stakeholders are recognized every year by the SATCC for their exceptional achievements in apprenticeship and the skilled trades.
“Congratulations to the deserving winners of this year’s Apprenticeship Awards,” Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison said. “Saskatchewan’s apprentices, skilled tradespeople, instructors and everyone involved in the apprenticeship and trade certification system are building a strong foundation for our economic recovery and future growth for years to come.”
“On behalf of the SATCC and Commission Board of Directors, congratulations to all of the 2021 Apprenticeship Award winners,” SATCC Board Chair Drew Tiefenbach said. “Journeypersons, employers, instructors and trade board members are key to the success of Saskatchewan’s industry-led apprenticeship system. We are fortunate to have such engaged, passionate apprenticeship stakeholders in our province.”
Thirty-two new journeypersons are receiving the Outstanding New Journeyperson awards. The SATCC presents these scholarships to the apprentices who achieved the highest mark on their trade’s journeyperson certification exam between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.
The SATCC is issuing 13 additional awards, including the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) Champion awards, which recognize educators for excellence in promoting apprenticeship and the SYA program to high school students. Other SATCC awards include the Outstanding Instructor award; Outstanding Employer awards; and the Artisan award, which recognizes an individual’s lifelong contributions to apprenticeship in Saskatchewan.
Industry organizations also issue their own scholarships and awards.
