The following is the occurrence summary for May 3 – 10.
On May 4 at 11:00 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a black GMC Sierra southbound on Highway 11, near Highway 305, in Corman Park. The vehicle had a burned-out tail light and was stopped by police. Police discovered three occupants in the vehicle, two men and a woman. Upon speaking with the driver, police noted the smell of Cannabis coming from the vehicle. The occupants were all identified and the male driver, a 29-year-old resident of Leoville, was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for an assault allegation in Big River. The man was arrested and taken to a police vehicle. While in custody, police observed that the man displayed symptoms of Cannabis consumption. The man denied consuming any Cannabis. Dalmeny Police attended and assisted by providing an approved drug screening device. Police made an oral fluid demand on the driver and he provided a sample of oral fluid, which was analyzed at roadside, and found to be positive for Cannabis. The man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment, where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. The man failed the evaluation and was subsequently charged for operating a conveyance while impaired by a drug. The female passenger was arrested on an outstanding warrant for auto theft from Saskatoon and the rear passenger was issued a ticket for possession of Cannabis in a vehicle. The vehicle was impounded.
On May 5 at 1:34 p.m. Corman Park Police were advised of a man sitting on the railway tracks at Range Road 3072 and Highway 14. Police attended in the area and located a man walking on the tracks nearby. There was a train travelling directly towards the man at a distance of about 1000 metres. Police contacted the railway and had them stop the train. At 2:00 p.m. police approached the man and placed him under arrest for trespassing on railway property. nvestigative inquiries revealed that the man was reported missing from Saskatoon and was believed to be suffering from mental health issues. The man was turned over to the Saskatoon Police Service to be returned to his family. No charges were laid.
On May 6 at 2:20 a.m. police were alerted to a high-speed chase northbound on Highway 11, which had come out of Saskatoon. The Saskatoon Police Service were attempting to stop a vehicle for multiple traffic violations. The vehicle was located by Corman Park Police on Highway 11 near Warman and was being monitored by the SPS Air Support Unit. Units from the Warman RCMP joined in to assist. Attempts to stop the fleeing vehicle with tire deflation devices were unsuccessful. The vehicle was eventually spotted getting stuck in a field on Township Road 393 east of Osler. Police attempted to close in on the vehicle and discovered there were two occupants inside, a man and a woman. The two occupants advised police that they were armed and demanded police back off. Police secured the area and the RCMP brought resources to the location including an Emergency Response Team and a police dog. Later, the man and woman were both arrested. No one was hurt and the two suspects were taken into custody by the RCMP to be investigated for numerous driving and criminal offences. No firearm was located.
On May 8 at 7:45 p.m. Corman Park Police received a call of a possible impaired driver leaving a golf course southwest of Saskatoon in Corman Park. The vehicle was described as a white BMW X5 with Saskatchewan plates. Police located the vehicle southbound on Range Road 3062 near Valley Road and pulled it over. There was a 33-year-old male resident of Saskatoon driving and he had his eight-year-old daughter in the vehicle with him. While speaking with police the driver displayed signs of alcohol consumption and police read him a roadside screening device demand. The man was given numerous opportunities to provide a breath sample, however he did not provide one. He was arrested for failing to comply with a breath demand and taken to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment. Witnesses at the local golf course indicated the man had approximately eight drinks and had displayed some erratic behaviour before leaving the course. Employees had attempted to stop the man from driving and had offered the man a ride in a cab, which he had refused. The man’s daughter was turned over to family and he was later released on an appearance notice for court on a charge of failing to comply with a breath demand. His licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded.
