The Maddogs ball carrier fights for extra yards with a Bulldogs player draped all over him during a Bantam Kinsman Football League matchup on October 4

The Martensville 1 Maddogs had a positive start to a game against the Bulldogs but ended up dropping a 38-12 decision in the Kinsman Football League contest on October 4, in Martensville.

Martensville got off to a blazing start by scoring a touchdown on the opening drive of the game, which only took two plays.

That lead didn’t last long because the Bulldogs answered back and found the end zone on their first offensive drive of the game.

The Maddogs couldn’t replicate what they did on their first drive and had to punt the ball away after their second drive. After the punt, the Bulldogs had good field position and put up a touchdown to end the opening quarter.

Midway through the second quarter, Martensville had a drive that started on its own 15-yard line, but gained some momentum after a couple of first downs.

The Maddogs got deep into the Bulldogs’ territory after the Martensville quarterback found a wide open receiver for a big gain.

However, Martensville couldn’t finish the drive and turned the ball over on downs.

The Maddogs defence forced a two-and-out on the ensuing Bulldog drive and after the punt-and-return Martensville had time for one more play with the ball at the Bulldogs’ 45-yard line.

Martensville didn’t find the end zone on that last play and after two quarters the Bulldogs had a 22-6 lead.

Late in the third quarter, the Maddogs cut in to the Bulldog lead after a 34-yard running play that resulted in a touchdown. However, the Martensville quarterback got injured on the convert attempt and he was out for the remainder of the game.

On the ensuing kick-off, the Bulldogs fumbled the ball and the Maddogs gained possession, with first down near the visitors’ 20-yard line.

With the starting quarterback out, the Maddogs struggled to move the ball and ended up turning the ball over on downs.

The Bulldogs scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull away. Throughout the fourth quarter, Martensville had a couple of turnovers which led to the Bulldogs regaining momentum.

Martensville’s next game is on October 18 against the Raiders at Saskatoon Minor Football Field.
