Two-term incumbent Martensville City Councillor Bob Blackwell will not be seeking re-election.
In an e-mail to the Gazette September 16, Blackwell said after much consideration he decided against running for a third term.
“Due to ongoing health issues, and having discussed this with my family, I have decided I will not be running for re-election in November,” said Blackwell.
“I will serve out the rest of my 2020 term up to Election Day.”
Blackwell was first elected to council in 2012 and re-elected in 2016.
He said being a part of Martensville City Council has been rewarding.
“It truly has been a privilege to serve the citizens of Martensville for the past eight years,” said Blackwell.
