The concession booth at the softball diamonds in Warman was vandalized recently

Charges are expected to be laid against five individuals following an RCMP investigation into vandalism at the seasonal concession booth at the Prairie Oasis Park softball diamonds in Warman.

Security video footage of five suspects allegedly involved in the incident has been provided by the City of Warman to RCMP officers,

Warman Recreation and Community Services Manager Paul McGonigal told a Warman City Council committee of the whole video-conference meeting on Monday, April 20 that the vandalism occurred earlier this spring. The damage was detected when city staff began preparations to get the building ready for the upcoming season.

The vandals broke into the concession building by using a metal pipe to break a window. The pipe was also used to shatter several exterior light figures. Once inside the building, the vandals used a hammer to create holes in the drywall and shatter mirrors.

The cost of repairs is not known at this time.

McGonigal said the vandalism was not readily apparent because the building is located some distance from the street between four ball diamonds. The city provided two weeks of security video footage from the facility to the RCMP. Five suspects were subsequently identified by police as part of the investigation. The suspects are all youths.
