The Corman Park Police Service (CPPS) has issued a warning that conditions along the South Saskatchewan River have become hazardous with increased water levels and faster-moving currents.

As a result, people should stay out of the river and avoid all recreational activities, including boating, canoeing and kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming and fishing from the shoreline.

Residents should also avoid approaching the river’s edge, as unstable banks and submerged hazards can create dangerous situations.

Pet-owners should keep their animals leashed and away from the river and shoreline, as the strong currents can pose serious risks to their pets.

To help protect visitors, the Poplar Bluffs Conservation Area, Fred Heal Canoe Launch and Paradise Beach sites have been temporarily closed.

The Cranberry Flats Conservation Area and Chief Whitecap Park remain open; however, visitors are urged to
exercise extreme caution near the river and follow all posted safety signage.

Updates and additional information will be posted on the RM of Corman Park webpage: www.rmcormanpark.ca
