The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team is now investigating an incident involving a Corman Park Police Service (CPPS) vehicle that resulted in serious injuries to one motorist.

According to a release from CPPS Chief Rob Duttchen, a CPPS officer attempted to stop a vehicle in relation to a manner-of-driving complaint shortly before 9 a.m. this morning, May 5.

The vehicle was travelling southbound on Highway 11 and fled from the CPPS officer after he activated his emergency equipment.

Ultimately, the CPPS officer disengaged, and the suspect vehicle continued southbound for a time before crossing the median into oncoming northbound traffic.

The suspect vehicle struck a northbound vehicle, which subsequently caught fire. The driver of the northbound vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Royal University Hospital (RUH) in critical condition. The CPPS officer was also transported to RUH as a precaution.

The release does not state what happened to the suspect who was being pursued by police. Instead, it ends by indicating the CPPS will no longer be commenting on this incident.

On X (formerly known as Twitter, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team confirmed they have been deployed to the vehicle collision in north Saskatoon and promised more details will follow.
