The long-awaited return of warm weather is expected to spur increased construction activity in Warman and Martensville.
That’s not to say it’s been a slow winter for builders, however.
Both the number of building permits issued and the value of construction in both cities for the first quarter of 2026 has been relatively steady.
The City of Warman issued a total of 73 building permits valued at $9,462,900 between January 1, 2026 and April 6, 2026, according to a report from the city’s planning department presented at the April 20 city council committee of the whole meeting.
Included in that total were construction permits for 23 single-family and two multi-family residential dwellings worth a combined value of $7,086,600.
There were also nine commercial building permits, valued at $762,500, issued during that period.
In addition, Warman issued 39 permits for renovations, decks, garages and other projects worth a combined value of $1,613,800.
While construction activitiy in Warman during the first quarter of 2026 was healthy, it’s down from the same period last year. Between January 1, 2025 and April 6, 2025, the City of Warman issued a total of 80 permits worth a combined value of $17,496,789.
The City of Martensville, meanwhile, issued a total of 78 building permits worth a combined total value of $7,394,214 between January 1, 2026 and March 30, 2026 according to statistics posted by the city’s planning department on the municipal website.
Last year marked Martensville’s high-water mark for construction permits, thanks to several large multi-family buildings that got underway last fall. During the 12-month calendar year of 2025, the total value of construction in the City of Martensville amounted to a record $70,721,459.
