The Rosthern Wheatkings finished in top spot in the Twin Rivers Hockey League (TRHL) standings last week, wrapping up the regular season with a record of 14 wins, two losses, 0 ties and 0 overtime losses for 28 points.

The Wheatkings head into the TRHL playoffs with a quarter-final matchup against their traditional rivals, the eighth-place Hague Royals, (7 wins, 8 losses, 0 ties and 1 overtime loss). Games are set for February 7 in Rosthern (8:30 p.m.), February 10 in Hague (8:30 p.m.) and February 14 in Rosthern (8:00 p.m.).

The second-place Dalmeny Sabres (12 wins, 3 losses, 0 ties and 1 overtime loss), play the seventh-place Clavet Cougars (7 wins, 7 losses, 0 ties and 2 overtime losses) in quarter-final action on February 7 in Dalmeny (8:30 p.m), February 8 in Clavet (6:00 p.m.) and February 13 in Dalmeny (8:30 p.m.).

Other quarter-final series will see the third place Shellbrook Elks play the sixth place Cudworth Tricky Maroons, while the fourth place Allan Flames face off against the fifth place Bruno T-Birds.

The Hague Royals are also in the hunt for the Senior D provincial crown, having defeated the Kindersley Klippers of the Wheatland Hockey League in the opening round of provincial playoffs. They now take on the Birch Hills Blackhawks.
