The widely-viewed 22 hour-long Telemiracle program raises funds for the Kinsmen Foundation, benefitting hundreds of special-needs residents throughout Saskatchewan. The Kinsmen Foundation’s goal is to improve the quality of life and independence of Saskatchewan residents.

According to the Kinsmen Foundation website, the organization provides specialized mobility and medical equipment to people and organizations, as well as travel assistance for residents in need of vital medical treatment outside their home community.

The Kinsmen Foundation was established in 1971 and granted funds raised by local Kinsmen and Kinettes. When requests for assistance exceeded available funds, planning started in 1976 for a province-wide telethon as a major fundraiser and the first TeleMiracle was started in Saskatoon in February 1977.

The majority of performances will be live, while some will be pre-recorded.

Telemiracle 50 Chair Tammy Blackwell said the organizing group received an “extraordinary response” to the call for auditions.

“I am blown away by the talent in Saskatchewan,” said Blackwell. “You are going to need to tune inn all 22 hours to see for yourself.”
