The Ministry of Health has issued an overdose alert after a rash of suspected overdoses in the Saskatoon area, which includes Warman, Martensville and nearby communities.

According to the alert, the Saskatoon Fire Department has responded to 84 suspected overdoses since August 17, which roughly equates to six or seven overdoses per day.

The alert states that many cases have required multiple doses of naloxone, which reverses opoid overdoses. Locations of take home naloxone kits can be found by calling Healthline (811).

Prairie Harm Reduction have detected carfentanyl in one test on August 20 which may have been linked to overdoses and multiple fatalities in the community.

This alert will remain in effect until September 4, 2025.
