A man is facing several charges in connection with a collision that killed a 62-year-old pedestrian on the Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation earlier this week.

According to a release, the Rosthern RCMP responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on the First Nation reserve at approximately 10:50 p.m. on July 14.

The pedestrian, a 62-year-old male from the Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation, was declared dead by EMS at the scene. His family has been notified.

On July 15 at approximately 1:10 a.m., the driver of the vehicle was arrested at a nearby residence.

The Rosthern RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

Anthony Gamble, 18, has been charged with one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, one count of failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death, and one count of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death.

Gamble appeared in court on July 16 on the Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation.
