The driver of a vehicle that went through the ice on the South Saskatchewan River at the Clarkboro Ferry crossing on Monday, March 24 was not injured, according to Warman Fire Rescue (WFR) officials.
WFR Fire Chief Russ Austin posted a photo of the partially-submerged vehicle shortly after the incident occurred early in the morning.
“The annual Spring ‘Car through the ice at the ferry crossing’ happened early this morning,” stated Austin in the WFR social media post.
“The driver was able to get out and get to the Aberdeen side of the river, so no rescue needed.”
Austin added that ice conditions on all bodies of water are particularly treacherous during the present warm weather.
“Time to stay off the ponds as well folks. Tell your kids!” he stated.
