By CHIEF RON CHOMYN, Corman Park Police Service
It’s that time of the year when temperatures begin to warm up, and road beds begin to soften up. That means next week the RM of Corman Park’s secondary roadways revert to regular regulation weights. Truckers will need to monitor weights of their cargos.
It’s imperative we protect our road network at this time of year by reducing the weights trucks are allowed to carry. On different occasions throughout the year the RM of Corman Park adjusts allowable weights to ensure the efficient movement of goods while protecting our infrastructure.
Winter weights are being removed effective Friday, March 14, 2025 at midnight (12:01 a.m.). Any existing winter weights will be removed and revert back to regulation secondary weights.
Spring road restrictions will begin soon after the winter weight allowances are removed. These road bans reduce allowable weights on RM secondary weight provincial highways by 10 to 15 per cent and typically last about six weeks.
Road bans typically begin in March and run for six weeks, ending in late April to early May. The bans only impact secondary weight roadways and not primary roadways such as the CTP roads within the RM .
Truckers are advised to monitor their loads and watch for restrictions during this period as overweight fines can be quite costly.
The RM follows the posted restrictions at saskatchewan.ca/truckingweights and at www.saskatchewan.ca/highwayhotline.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact the RM of Corman Park office or the Corman Park Police service.
