The Warman U15AA Wildcats downed the Okotoks Oilers 8-6 to win the B final at the Canadian Crown U15AAA hockey tournament in Enoch, Alberta last weekend.
The 16-team invitational tournament January 16-19 featured top-ranked teams from Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC and Alaska. The Calgary Cannex Bisons won the gold medal with a 7-0 win over silver-medalists Airdrie Xtreme, while the Notre Dame Hounds Prep won the bronze medal.
The Wildcats had seven players in the top-fifteen scoring leaders for the tournament:
* Kobe Pellack was first overall with 9 goals and 8 assists;
* Maclain Ethier was in fourth spot with 6 goals and 6 assists;
* Beau Anholt was in fifth place with 4 goals and 7 assists;
* Camryn Aebig was in 8th spot with 6 goals and 3 assists;
* Caleb Philp was in 11th place with 2 goals and 7 assists;
* Logan Olsen was in 12th place with 1 goal and 8 assists.
The Wildcats had a record of four wins and one loss at the tournament. The initial defeat came in the opening game of round-robin play, when they dropped an 8-4 decision to the eventual tournament champions Calgary Cannex Bisons on January 16.
The Wildcats bounced back later that day with a decisive 9-3 win over the Delta Black. They went on to spank the KC Squires 15-1 on January 17 and edged Team Alaska 5-4 in overtime on January 18. They beat Okotoks 8-6 in the B-side final January 19.
Ty Keyowski and Kason Peters alternated between the pipes for the Wildcats, with both goalies playing at the top of their game.
Peters was in the top ten tournament goaltenders, with a goals against average of 3.5 and a save percentage of .873
