Two people were killed in a two-vehicle collision north of Martensville on New Year’s Eve.

Saskatchewan RCMP have identified the victims as a 29-year-old female and and 40-year-old male, both from Saskatoon.

Martensville Fire Department, along with Warman RCMP and Medavie Health Services West paramedics responded to a collision between a semi-trailer truck and an SUV on Tuesday December 31, 2024, at 5:21 p.m. on Highway 12 just north of Martensville.

In an interview January 2, Martensville Fire Chief Dean Brooman said two people in the passenger vehicle were declared deceased on scene.

The driver of the semi was medically assessed by Martensville Fire Department and Medavie Ambulance. An RCMP spokesperson said the driver of the semi had some injuries that were described as non-life-threatening, and did not require transport to hospital.

The collision occurred on an undivided section of Highway 12 south of the intersection with Highway 305, according to Brooman.

The highway was closed for several hours while RCMP collision reconstructionists conducted their investigation. The highway was re-opened later that night.

Martensville Fire Department stayed on scene to assist RCMP.   

Martensville Fire Department cleared the scene at approximately 10:00 p.m. December 31, 2024.

Warman RCMP. are continuing their investigation into the collision.
