The new management at the Martensville SARCAN Depot has a major feather in its cap, as their facility was recently named the Large Depot of the Year for 2024.
The award, which now hangs at the entrance of the building located at 621 9th Street in Martensville, was presented to supervisor Joshua Siemens at a ceremony in November.
Siemens said SARCAN has a few criteria that they base the award on, and they evaluate each depot by deploying some secret shoppers.
“We got the best scores in the province for our depot size,” he said.
Assistant Jhoanna Balatucan said SARCAN looks at things like how accurate their counters are, the cleanliness of the building and overall customer service.
Jhoanna noted that both she and Siemens previously worked at the Warman depot but moved over to Martensville in February.
She indicated there were a lot of challenges in moving over, as Warman had a totally different set-up from Martensville.
However, both she and Siemens have worked hard to bring up the quality of their customer service “so we will have more customers and…we can keep them happy.”
Martensville is one 73 SARCAN depots sprinkled throughout 65 communities in Saskatchewan.
SARCAN is the recycling division of SARC, which is made up of around 100 communication organizations with the mission of helping people live up to their full potential.
