Martensville’s newly-elected Mayor and City Councillors were officially sworn in at a meeting on Tuesday, November 19.
The four new City Councillors: Krista McCann, Brad Blixt, Tracy Cocks and Katharine Carter; as well as incumbent Councillors Darren MacDonald and Spencer Nikkel and incumbent Mayor Kent Muench; recited the oath of office and pledged to represent the citizens of their community honestly and fairly.
While their first meeting was short, their next several weeks will be busy.
The newly-installed council will soon be up to their elbows in long, intense discussions, as the city council and administration begin the process of hammering out the 2025 civic budget.
Councillors will have to determine if a property tax hike is in the cards heading into the new year, as they strive to balance costs with revenues.
