Valley Christian Academy hosted one of eight 3A boys volleyball conference tournaments on November 9.

The hosting VCA Lions won all four of their matches to claim the conference title.

VCA didn’t drop a set en route to their conference championship.

The Lions beat Rosthern Junior College 25-17, 25-22 to kick off the tournament, followed by a 25-15, 25-13 victory over Senator Allan Bird (Montreal Lake).

VCA downed Senator Myles Venne (La Ronge) 25-13, 25-18, and defeated Bernard Constant (James Smith Cree Nation) 25-8, 25-2 to kickstart their quest for another provincial medal.

The Lions took bronze in 3A last year, preceded by a silver in 2022 and a provincial championship in 2021.

Rosthern Junior College will also advance to the regional round after finishing the tournament with a 3-1 record.

RJC didn’t drop another set following their loss to VCA, beating Montreal Lake, La Ronge, and James Smith Cree Nation with relative ease. 

La Ronge’s Senator Myles Venee School will be the final team representing the conference at next weekend’s regional tournament.

The team finished 1-3 on Saturday and won the tiebreaker to advance to the penultimate stage of the playoffs.

VCA, RJC, and La Ronge will compete against Spiritwood, Waldheim, and Dalmeny in the regional round taking place November 15-16.

Three trips to the 3A provincial championships in Esterhazy will be up for grabs in each regional tournament this coming weekend, November 15 and 16..
