The following are incidents of note for the period October 28 to November 3, 2024.
On the morning of October 28 at 1:05 a.m, on Highway 12 near the Highway 11 junction, an adult female was found to be operating a white Mercedes under the influence of cannabis and cocaine after testing positive on ADSE. With a G02 restriction of zero tolerance for alcohol/drug consumption while operating, she was subsequently issued a 120-day Driver’s License suspension and seven-day vehicle impound as per SGI, as this was her second offence for operating under the influence.
On October 27 at 10:15 p.m., an adult male was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants out of the Meadow Lake RCMP for driving while suspended and FTA x2 (failing to attend court on two occasions), stemming from a traffic stop on Highway 16 near Township Road 374. At the direction of Meadow Lake RCMP, the subject was released on a Form H to attended Meadow Lake Traffic Court in December to answer to the charges.
On October 30 at approximately 10:45 a.m., CPPS observed a black Toyota Corolla driving 161 km/h in a 110 km/h zone south on Highway 11 near Mierau Road. A traffic stop was conducted with the driver providing a sample of his breath into an approved screening device, resulting in a “WRN” (reading of ‘Warn’). An $809.00 citation for speed, as well as a 30 day vehicle impoundment and 7 day licence suspension were issued.
On October 31 at 8:45 p.m., RCMP dispatch informed members of an impaired driver near Martensville. CPPS located the vehicle idling on Township Road 382 near Highway 12 and based on the driver’s condition, a roadside breath demand was made, resulting in “FAIL”. The driver was transported to Martensville RCMP, where she provided samples of her breath resulting in 160 mgs% x2. She was released with an Appearance Notice to attend Provincial court in December.
On October 30 at 11:45 p.m., CPPS observed a vehicle speeding at 124 km/h in a 100 km/h zone that was southbound on Highway 219 near Victor Road. CPPS conducted a traffic stop and as the vehicle was stopping, the occupants were observed switching seats. The driver tested positive for THC. The vehicle was impounded for 3 days and the operator’s driver’s licence was suspended for 60 days.
On the morning of November 3, CPPS executed a traffic stop on a blue Ford Escape on Highway 219 near Baker Road to alert the driver of a piece of body trim hanging off the side of the vehicle. Upon stopping the vehicle, the backseat passengers began throwing beverage alcohol containers out of the vehicle into the ditch. One of the occupants provided a false name. He was extremely intoxicated and when placed under arrest for obstruction, actively resisted arrest. His identity was confirmed and found to be wanted on outstanding warrants out of Saskatoon Police Service and Melfort RCMP for assault and breach of probation x5. He was held in custody until sober before being released on an Undertaking to attend Saskatoon Provincial Court to answer to the charges.
