Steve Wiebe, the Public Works Foreman for the Town of Langham, was honoured with a prestigious award recently by the Saskatchewan Public Works Association (SPWA).
The SPWA presented Wiebe with the Public Works Person of the Year award during its annual convention in Saskatoon February 27-29.
The award recognizes the outstanding service to the profession, the public and the SPWA by an individual who truly exemplifies the public works official.
The award to Wiebe highlights the important role that public works personnel play in the lives of residents across the province, according to Town of Langham Chief Administrative Officer Jamie Nagy.
The week of May 19-25, has been proclaimed ’Public Works Week’ in recognition of the importance of public works employees and managers.
“Steve’s tenure as our Public Works Foreman since January 1, 2012, has been defined by his unparalleled dedication, innovative problem-solving, and unwavering commitment to our community,” said Nagy.
“His visionary leadership has not only saved the Town of Langham substantial amounts of money through cost-efficient solutions and adept management of capital projects, but has also inspired efficiency improvements, adaptation to challenges, and successful oversight of large infrastructure initiatives.
“Steve’s impact extends beyond infrastructure; he serves as a mentor and role model, fostering a culture of excellence within our public works department.
“His recognition as a Public Works Person of the Year is a testament to his exceptional contributions, which have elevated our town and enriched the lives of our residents.”
