The value of residential and commercial construction in Martensville for the first ten months of 2023 has already surpassed all of last year.

Statistics posted on the Martensville civic website show a total value of $18,908,013 for building permits issued from January 1 to October 27, 2023 for new single and multi-family home construction, commercial buildings and renovations and additions to residences.

That compares to a total building permit value of $16,547,872.14 for the period January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.

So far this year, Martensville has issued building permits for nine single family homes, six multi-family dwellings, 58 residential additions and renovations, 26 commercial and industrial buildings and one government project. The big jump in construction in Martensville this year is in the commercial and industrial area, where the number of projects has more than doubled over last year.

The level of construction activity in Martensville is on pace to match 2021, when the value of building permits amounted to $20,093,467.42.

WARMAN PERMITS

The number and value of building permits issued by the city of Warman in the past few months has experienced a significant jump, and the city’s planning department expects to see similar numbers to last year by the end of December.

A report tabled at the Warman City Council committee of the whole meeting on Monday, November 20 provided information on construction activity so far this year compared to the same period last year.

Between January 1 and November 15, 2023, the City of Warman issued a total of 219 building permits worth a combined value of $30,999.773.

This compares to a total of 207 permits worth a combined value of $33,678,733 issued for the same period in 2022.

So far this year, Warman has seen construction begin on 19 commercial buildings worth a total of $9,720,635; 34 single-family homes and six multi-family dwellings valued at $17,130,411; and 160 residential renovations and additions worth a combined total of $4,148,697.

During the same period in 2022, there were 28 commercial building permits issued worth a combined value of $7,513,850; 44 single family and nine multi-family homes valued at $22,655,900; and 126 renovations and additions worth $3,508,983.

The city’s planning department report indicated that there are several large construction projects for which developers will apply for building permits early in 2024.
