Valley Christian Academy (VCA) added another banner to their impressive gym wall after earning a bronze medal at the SHSAA 3A Boys provincial volleyball championships in Unity on November 24-25.
VCA finished second in pool A play with wins over Clavet 25-19, 25-16; Spiritwood 25-10, 25-14; Regina Christian School 25-10, 21-25, 15-8. They lost to Assiniboia 22-25, 19-25.
In the playoff round they defeated Unity 12-25, 25-15, 15-8 in the quarter finals. The semi-final against the eventual gold medal winners Esterhazy was the match of the weekend. VCA lost the first set 22-25, won set two 25-23 before falling 13-15 in the final set. They defeated Regina Christian School 26-24, 25-22 in the bronze medal game.
Dalmeny had a strong showing, finishing second in pool B with wins over Kipling 25-22, 25-22; Unity 22-25, 25-14, 15-7 and Shaunvon 25-11, 25-19. They lost to Esterhazy 26-28, 10-25.
They lost a close one 23-25, 22-25 to Regina Christian School in the quarter final playoff game.
Clavet finished fourth in pool A with a 25-9, 25-14 win over Spiritwood.
In the quarter final playoff they lost to Esterhazy 13-25, 22-25.
