The Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association (SHSAA) playdowns to determine high school volleyball supremacy have begun with many schools from this area advancing.

Valley Christian Academy (VCA) will be hosting a 3A boys regional tournament on Saturday, November 18. Teams competing are VCA, Dalmeny, Spiritwood, Senator Myles Venne, PACI and Maidstone. The top three teams will advance to the provincial tournament to be hosted by Unity on November 24-25.

Hepburn and Langham will be competing in the 2A regional tournament at Saskatoon Christian School on November 18. Birch Hills, Meath Park and Kinistino will also be taking part. The top three teams will advance to the provincials to be held in Ponteix the following weekend.

Warman High School boys will be competing for a provincial title at the 5A boys provincial tournament taking place in Prince Albert on November 17-18. Warman is in Pool B with Regina Winston Knoll, PA St. Mary, Estevan and Saskatoon Bethlehem.

The girls provincial tournaments are scheduled for November 17-18.

The 2A girls tournament will be hosted by St. Walburg in St. Walburg and Turtleford. Langham is in pool B with Rocanville, Wadena, Gravelbourg and Carrot River.

They advanced after a strong showing at the regional tournament in Macklin. They finished first in pool A with 25-17 and 25-8 wins over Turtleford, and 25-20, 25-21 over Makwa. They defeated Paradise Hill 26-24, 25-12 in the semi-finals before losing to Macklin in the finals.

In 3A girls both Waldheim and VCA qualified from the regional tournament held in Shellbrook last weekend. Waldheim finished first with wins over Stobart, Creighton, VCA and Shellbrook. VCA grabbed the final qualifying spot with an exciting 25-23, 13-25,25-12 win over Creighton to take third place. The 3A girls provincial tournament will be in Indian Head and Wolseley. Waldheim and Osler VCA are in pool B with Kipling, Lanigan and Maple Creek.

Martensville took top spot at the regional tournament they hosted to advance to the 4A girls provincial tournament in Moose Jaw. They are in pool A with Moose Jaw Vanier, Melville, Humboldt and Lumsden.
