The Town of Hague celebrated the official completion of their arena floor upgrades project on Sunday, September 17. The project was funded in part by the federal and provincial governments.
Construction on the project began in 2022. Work involved installing a concrete floor and associated floor heating and cooling systems for the ice surface when in place. The previous floor was made of sand. The project was completed in 2022. The Government of Canada invested $486,000 toward the project and the Government of Saskatchewan contributed $404,960. The remaining $731,038 of the project was funded by the Town of Hague.
“Investing in modern infrastructure is essential for communities to grow and thrive,” said George Chahal, Member of Parliament for Calgary Skyview, on behalf of the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities. “That is why we are proud to celebrate this grand opening with the Town of Hague. Improvements to this community’s beloved arena will provide residents with a year-round recreational space to stay active and make long-lasting memories. We will continue working with partners to invest in projects that will have tangible impacts on the quality of life of residents, and the vitality of Saskatchewanian communities now and into the future.”
“The Government of Saskatchewan is glad to play a supporting role in this project by investing more than $404,000 to make this arena upgrade a reality,” said Terry Jenson, MLA for Martensville-Warman, on behalf of the Honourable Don McMorris, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Government Relations. “This project makes this recreational facility more flexible in its use and strengthens the heart of the community by making this gathering place even better.”
“Thanks to funding from the Government of Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan, it was easier for the Town of Hague to move forward with this important recreation project,” said Her Worship Patricia Wagner, Mayor of the Town of Hague. “The completion of this infrastructure makes Hague an even better place to live and helps make our Town more attractive to raise a family and start a business.”
