On June 16 2023 at 12:40 p.m. CPPS attended to a complaint of eight horses at large near Cathedral Bluffs. After determining the owners, they indicated no one could attend and collect the horses but would continue trying. Our CPPS “Horse Whisperer” was able to herd the horses back into the pasture where they belonged which was very much appreciated by the owners.
On June 17 at 9:50 p.m. CPPS observed a Ford Flex towing a red Kawasaki 220 cc ATV southbound on RR 3053 near TWP 381. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver of the ATV was identified. CPIC inquiry indicated active warrants with Dalmeny Police Service for Breach Undertaking x4, and active warrants with Saskatoon Police Service for Fraud under $5,000, Break and Enter, Fail to Comply with Undertaking, Common Assault, Breach Probation and TSA Drive while Disqualified. He was arrested and transported to Saskatoon Police Service to be held for court.
On June 23 at 10:40 p.m. CPPS observed a Chev Spark driving westbound on TWP 354 from Poplar Bluffs. A traffic stop was conducted checking for sobriety, with the driver smelling strongly of beverage alcohol and admitting to consuming a number of beers. A sample of his breath into the approved screening device resulted in a “FAIL”. Driver was arrested and provided samples of his breath with results of 180 mgs% and 160 mgs%. He was released with an Appearance Notice for Provincial Court Aug 2023.
On June 24 J at approximately 7:35 p.m. CPPS observed a vehicle driving east on Hwy 41 near TWP 374 at 140 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted and alcohol was observed in plain view in the back seat of the vehicle. Driver provided a sample of his breath into the approved screening device resulting in “FAIL” and he was placed under arrest. Transported to Saskatoon RCMP detachment where he provided two sample of his breath, both over the legal limit. Released on an Appearance Notice for Provincial Court Aug 2023.
On June 24 at 11:45 p.m. RCMP dispatch received a call of 100+ youths drinking and fighting at Chief Whitecap Dog Park. CPPS was in the area and offered assistance. CPPS arrived on scene where multiple people claimed to be assaulted and presented with minor injuries. EMS was requested. CPPS and Saskatoon RCMP cleared everyone from the area. No charges resulted at this time.
On June 24, CPPS did receive a call from Osler Fire stating they were on their way to a controlled burn that was no longer under control. Police arrived on scene and there appeared to be an old abandoned house that the RM instructed them to burn down due to it being too close to the road engulfed in flame. The house was burning and caught a light post, which caused the owners to call the fire department. Sask Power also notified. No injuries and no one inside the house. Fire eventually extinguished.
On June 26, at 5:07 p.m., while participating in enforcement project on HWY 16 east of Boychuk Drive, Police flagged in a white Chev pickup for speeding. The driver was identified and his five- year-old daughter was found not to be buckled in the vehicle booster seat correctly. While fixing the minor issue the child handed the officer a cannabis pipe. The driver displayed signs of cannabis impairment consistent with someone under the influence of THC. He stated he had consumed cannabis four to five hours before, and provided a sample of oral fluid resulting in a positive reading for THC. Issued a seven day DL suspension and a seven day vehicle impound. The driver made arrangements to be picked up roadside.
