Ultimate Booster Club members Janet Carter, Chelsea Baniulis, Nicole Drover and Lisa Tenetuik received the City of Warman Group of the Year award at the June 12 Warman City Council meeting

The Ultimate Booster Club was named the City of Warman’s Group of the Year at the June 12 Regular Meeting of Council as part of the City’s 2022 Volunteer Appreciation Awards. Group members Janet Carter, Chelsea Baniulis, Nicole Drover and Lisa Tenetuik were in attendance to receive the award.

The Ultimate Booster Club has supported members of Warman Ultimate Cheerleading (WUC) for 13 years. The volunteer group dedicates time and effort year-round to ease the financial burden on members. This allows athletes to attend more competitions and represent WUC and the community with pride.

The club nearly raised six figures in funds in 2022, sitting just shy of the $93,000 mark. This total was secured through countless hours, late nights, and several garages filled with products for a variety of fundraisers; this includes, but is not limited to chip sales, Hillberg & Berk draw tickets, Growing Smiles plant sales, meat drives, pizza sales and bottle drives.

“We appreciate what we do to help our children and others, and make it a little easier for them. We have a little bit of fun along the way,” said Carter.

These funds go directly to the athletes themselves for expenses and registration, allowing participants to have the most access and greatest opportunity to succeed.

“Who wouldn’t fundraise for the kids when it goes directly to their Cheer account; it is super helpful with the affordability,” added Tenetuik.

The Ultimate Booster Club also continues its scholarship program for members in post-secondary education. WUC members have benefitted from this initiative for over a decade as well.

Warman City Councillors and Warman Ultimate Booster Club

“Janet, Lisa, Chelsea and Nicole have allowed many kids in our community to have the opportunity to reap the benefits that team sports offer,” said Mayor Gary Philipchuk. “It’s this type of dedication and volunteerism that brings a community closer together.”

“City Council would like to thank The Ultimate Booster Club for their contributions to Warman,” Philipchuk added.

The City of Warman’s final 2022 Volunteer Appreciation Award presentation will be at the June 26 Regular Meeting of Council.
