Investigative Recap

Ongoing missing person investigations. Saskatchewan RCMP continues to ask for public assistance locating the following missing individuals:

 

 

April 10: At approximately 6 p.m., an officer with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team (CRT) was conducting proactive patrols on Highway #55 just east of Green Lake, SK. They observed a vehicle speeding and pulled it over. The driver was found to be prohibited from driving. During subsequent investigation, the officer located and seized 22 grams of crack cocaine, 20 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 6 grams of powder cocaine and a sum of cash from the vehicle. A photo of the seized items is attached. The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

29-year-old Glenda Morin and 20-year-old Tionne Merasty, both from Meadow Lake, are each charged with:

– one count, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

– one count, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and

– one count, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.

 

Both are scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on June 5, 2023 (Information 90503267).

 

 

April 12: Turtleford RCMP received a report of a break-in in progress at a property in Turtle Lake. Officers immediately responded and located the suspect vehicle travelling on Highway #796. They attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop and officers soon after found it stuck on a nearby property. One occupant was arrested near the vehicle and the other was arrested after a brief search. Officers located and seized a number of items in the vehicle and investigation determined they had been reported stolen during recent break-ins in the area. With the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP Battleford General Investigation Section, a search warrant was executed at a property in Brightsand Lake on April 15 in relation to this investigation. Officers located and seized two snow machines, a flat deck trailer and a kayak reported stolen in separate break-ins in Turtle Lake, SK in April.

 

As a result, 40-year-old Travis Whiting from Brightsand Lake is charged with:

– one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;

– one count, break and enter with intent, Section 348(1)(a), Criminal Code; and

– three counts, possession of property obtained by crime, Section 354(1)(1), Criminal Code.

 

He is scheduled to appear in court in St. Walburg on June 20, 2023 (Information 90442495).

 

31-year-old Michelle Delorme from Brightsand Lake is charged with:

– one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;

– one count, break and enter with intent, Section 348(1)(a), Criminal Code; and

– one count, possession of property obtained by crime, Section 354(1)(1), Criminal Code.

 

She is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on June 20, 2023 (Information 904424954).

April 13: Joint investigation between Saskatchewan RCMP and Saskatchewan Highway Patrol result in almost $1 million dollars seized following commercial traffic inspection

 

 

April 13: La Ronge RCMP – Charges laid following report of break and enter with a firearm

 

 

April 15: At approximately 1:10 p.m., Warman RCMP received a report of an emergency aircraft landing near Osler, SK. Officers immediately responded and located a small plane, which had landed near Township Road 400. The pilot and lone occupant of the plane did not report injuries, nor was the plane damaged. The pilot indicated the plane encountered mechanical issues, however he was able to land safely.
