The star blankets gifted at the Opening Ceremonies were creatively designed by Jessica Moore and were presented to each team’s Captain by Bettie Paley, Executive Assistant, SIGA and Wildcats Alumni, Carlin Nordstrom. It is believed that when you are wrapped in a Star Blankets your ancestors are with and among you. The guiding star represents a new beginning, the journey from darkness to the light, from ignorance to the truth. The giver usually chooses the colours that represent the individual to tell their story, show their personality and reflect their accomplishments, in this case the colours were chosen to represent this West Regionals Cup. The blankets are used to honour, protect, and celebrate the individual and in this case the teams.
