Investigative Recap
February 7: At approximately 11:15 a.m., a male approached the Battlefords RCMP front counter and requested a ride to Lloydminster. Employees explained that they were unable to do so and the male exited the building. He then began stabbing the windows of the detachment with a knife. Officers at the detachment safely arrested the male. No injuries were reported and the windows received minor damage. The 25-year-old man was charged with one count, mischief, Section 430(4) Criminal Code; one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code; one count, carry a concealed weapon, Section 90(2), Criminal Code; and one count, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on March 6, 2023.

February 12: At 3:00 p.m. Rosthern Detachment received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation. The vehicle was described as a white truck with a black tailgate with two male occupants and one female occupant with pink hair. The male had their faces covered with bandanas. Approximately an hour later, in a rural area in the RM of Duck Lake, approximately 15 kilometers north of the initial report, a weapons report was made to Rosthern RCMP. The victim came upon a white, 3/4 ton Ford truck with two males with their faces covered and one female with pink hair, matching the description from the first report. It was reported the suspects discharged a firearm at the victim as they drove away southbound.
