New CPPS Sergeant

Corman Park Police Chief Ron Chomyn is pleased to announce that Lee Jones has been hired for the operational Sergeant’s position with the Corman Park Police Service. Lee brings 22 years of policing experience with him from the Saskatoon Police Service with investigative, front line and supervisory roles during his career, including stints in the Sex Crimes Unit, Forensic Identifications Unit, as well as patrol and community liaison positions.

Sergeant Jones was sworn in on Jan 20, 2023, at the RM of Corman Park council chambers and will officially begin with the CPPS on January 31, 2023.

Incidents of note

On January 18 at 12:48 a.m., RCMP dispatched a call for an Auto Rescue Towing employee finding an unresponsive driver in the ditch of Highway 60 and Highway 7. CPPS arrived, located a idling Ford F-150 bearing SK marker 199 LBT in the ditch. Driver presented with glossy red eyes and admitted to the consumption of 5 beers two hours previous. Provided a sample of his breath into roadside device resulting in “FAIL”.

Accused was transported to Martensville RCMP where he provided samples of his breath resulting in readings above the legal limit. An adult male was released after being served an Appearance Notice and an open alcohol in a vehicle ticket for court at a later date.

On January 20 at 11:00 p.m.., CPPS conducted a traffic stop at RR 3062 and TWP Rd Road 382. The driver appeared to be having trouble keeping his eyes open, presenting with signs of possible impairment. An ASD demand resulted in a “FAIL.” Driver was transported to the RCMP Martensville detachment where he provided samples of his breath resulting in 130mgs% and 110mgs%. He was issued an Appearance Notice to attend court at a later date.

On January 29 at approximately 10:25 p.m. a call for service regarding a person on Highway 11 and Township Road 381 in traffic trying to wave down vehicles was received. CPPS attended the location and found a male subject who was very cold and had allegedly been trying to hitchhike for a few hours. He was placed in the back of the patrol vehicle for warmth and provided a courtesy ride to a Saskatoon address that agreed to house him for the evening.
