Warman is unveiling plans to celebrate its 10th anniversary as a city in 2022.

A decade since gaining city status marks an exciting, notable benchmark within the rich history of the community that began in 1905.

Warman officially became the 16th municipality in Saskatchewan to become a City on October 24, 2012.

From there, Warman has become the face of growth among cities in the province. Warman’s population was 7084 in 2012. It has since soared by 75 percent the past decade. Warman is now the eighth-largest city in Saskatchewan with a population of 12,419 as of the 2021 Stats Canada Census.

With the anniversary announcement also comes the unveiling of a bright, revamped City logo which will be used the remainder of 2022. The ten diamonds signify the ten years as a City, while the diamonds themselves are a nod to the railroad roots of this community and the original name of “Diamond.” The City of Warman wouldn’t be where it’s at today without the formative years as a village and town.

Though the official date of the 10th anniversary isn’t until the fall, the City of Warman feels it’s fitting to celebrate the community’s growth over the months ahead in the meantime.

“There are many other significant stats aside from the Census population numbers that capture the essence of what it means to be a rapidly-growing city,” said Warman Mayor Gary Philipchuk. “We hope these can bring a sense of pride for the residents who choose to live, work, invest and play in this dynamic, vibrant community.”

The nature of the anniversary is not only looking back at how far Warman has come in just a decade; it’s also important to look ahead. The City is determined to continue working and advocating towards steady and sustainable growth as we venture far beyond the ten-year mark. Warman is well-positioned to continue being a community that people seek out to call home.

“Whether someone has been living in Warman for a few months, years, or decades, we thank you for having positively contributed to the growth and reputation of our beautiful community,” said Philipchuk. “We’re excited for what the future brings for Warman and for the opportunities we have to celebrate our community’s growth together in 2022.” Look to the Clark’s Crossing Gazette and the City of Warman’s social media accounts for more information on the 10th anniversary as 2022 progresses.
