Corman Park Reeve Judy Harwood has been re-elected as Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) District 5 Director.
Harwood was unopposed in her bid for the post on the date of the close of nominations on Friday, February 17.
Elections for SARM District Director will take place for Districts 1 and 3.
Harwood said she welcomes the opportunity to serve another two years in the post of District 5 Director.
District 5 includes 57 rural municipalities extending from Last Mountain Lake in the south to Elk Ridge in the north.
“It gives me another two years to continue to work on files of importance to RMs in my district,” said Harwood. “The issues include everything from physician recruitment and retention, to the increasing costs of the federal carbon tax on rural residents, to methods of controlling the wild boar population.”
District 1 SARM Director candidates include incumbent Bob Moulding of the RM of Abernethy and Richard Tessier of the RM of Coalfields.
District 3 SARM Director candidates include incumbent Larry Grant of the RM of Val Marie and Mark Hughes of the RM of Miry Creek.
The elections will take place during the final day of the SARM convention March 15-17.
