The Warman Wildcats  earned a big 5-3 win over the league-leading Birch Hills Blackhawks in Twin Rivers Hockey League (TRHL) action at Warman Diamond Rodeo Arena on Saturday, December 18.

The Wildcats used fast, crisp passing to build a 5-1 second period lead.  Tylin Cameron got the home squad on the board with a pair of first period goals scored 39 seconds apart. Thien Gamble and Gordon Wasteste also scored, to the Wildcats’ first period lead.

Doan Smith got Birch Hills on the board midway through the second period.

Wildcats captain Brayden Anderson buried a one-timer late in the second period to increase the Warman lead.

Birch Hills made the score closer with a couple  late game markers. Doan Smith scored on a power play with four minutes left in the game, and Liam Tittle netted one in the final minute.

The Warman win really tightens up the TRHL standings heading into the second half of the season.

The Rosthern Wheatkings moved into a tie for first place with a 6-5 win over Shellbrook in a game played at Shellbrook the same night.

Birch Hills and Rosthern have 17 points.

Shellbrook, Waldheim, and Warman each have 15 points in the highly-competitive league.

Warman’s next home game will be January 8 when they will play Rosthern at the Legends Centre 8:15 p.m.
