A new base for a Medavie West ambulance and paramedic crew will begin construction in the near future, according to Martensville City Manager Scott Blevins.
The new building is projected to be built in the 700 block of Centennial Drive North.
In a report to the Martensville City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 16, Blevins said he and Martensville Fire Chief Kurtis Dyck recently met with representatives of Medavie Health Services West to discuss details of the recent announcement by the province that Martensville would be the site of a permanent ambulance base for the north Saskatoon region.
“They will be applying for a permit shortly,” said Blevins in his report. ” Medavie does not own land or buildings.
“They are working with their developer to construct and lease,” he added. “We will be working through options on the land. In the short term the Fire Chief will make room available in the Fire Hall that Medavie will lease until the building is ready for occupancy.”
Blevins said no date has yet been set for construction to begin, but he expects it in the near future.
“There is still work to do, but the process has started,” he said.
